    Biographical Note

    A Greek poet and politician. He was born on the Ionian island of Lefkas in 1824 and died in 1879. He studied Law in Athens, Geneve, Paris, London, and he became a Dr of law in Pisa. Returned to Greece he worked for the independence of the Ionian islands from the British occupation and their union with Greece. He elected a member of the Ionian Parliament and after the union a member of the Greek Parliament. A very important poet, he was a leading figure of the romanticism in Greece.
